![]() ![]() But maybe that's because I so badly don't want that to be my own story. it's presented as a happy ending, but it feels more like a futile and belated effort to "make things right.” I was left feeling pity and anger more than relief. At the conclusion of the game, we learn that Joseph has moved with Rachel back to his childhood home. We learn that he found a passion, went to school to pursue it, but then couldn't find a job in his field. Joseph spends his life trying not to do what people expect him to, and I really related to that struggle. He spent years refusing to acknowledge something he understood was valuable, and now regrets his behavior, but at the same time doesn't seem to take accountability for it. As he tells Rachel these memories, there's not much that is redeeming for Joseph. He is wallowing in a combination of grief and self-pity. Speaking of which, hats off to Rachel - she is much more patient than I probably would be. This is when the dialogue seems the least realistic, because of course Rachel would already know what’s going on. After a wonderful opening dialogue and graceful hint-dropping, the subtlety of the exact situation is undermined when the same events are just explicitly stated later. Dontnod promises to have players on the edge of their seats when the game releases sometime in 2019.ĭontnod studio has been busy with a lot of new content and one of the biggest titles to be released from them is a sequel to Life is Strange which should be revealed at the E3 expo.Twin Mirror will be an exclusive PS4 title which means it won't be coming to PC or Xbox.As with most games in this genre, my biggest complaint is over-explaining to the player with summary "in case you didn't figure this out on your own" dialogue. With the announcement for the title given pre E3, we suppose more information is going to be presented on Sony's E3 press conference, before the main event starts. It seems like the players are going to be in for quite a treat, exploring Sam's complicated and shrouded past. Publisher for the game Bandai Namco gave an official summary for the game: "Twin Mirror is a psychological thriller wrapped around an investigation where your memories, choices, and relationships will determine Sam’s complicated fate." As Sam comes to come to terms with heartbreak, homecoming, and the perpetual struggle of adulthood, he will need your help exploring a dark and emotional adventure where the line between truth and deception is blurred. Little is still known about the game considering that the trailer only added more enigma to the whole story. Twin Mirror combines mystery and photorealism in hope to achieve an emotional connection with the player. He comes back to his hometown to attend his friend's funeral but wakes up finding a bloody shirt with no recent memories.ĭontnod's visual approach to the game draws heavily from the formula used by the newly released Vampyr. Twin Mirror is a story-driven adventure game, with the main protagonist being Sam. Dontnod, a developer best known for releasing an award-winning game Life is Strange, is working on a new title.
